Planning to study in Canada? 🇨🇦 Great choice! Canada offers world-class education, diverse campuses, and a high quality of life. To apply for a study permit and get admitted to a Canadian university or college, you’ll need the following documents:

1. Valid Passport

  • Must be valid for the entire duration of your study program

  • Check expiry date—renew if needed before applying

2. Passport-sized Photos

  • Clear, recent color photo (with white background)

  • As per Canadian visa photo specifications (usually 35mm x 45mm)

3. Academic Documents

  • SSC Certificate & Transcript

  • HSC Certificate & Transcript

  • Bachelor’s Degree Certificate & Transcript (if applying for postgrad)

  • Master’s Certificate & Transcript (if applying for PhD)
    (All transcripts should be official and in English or French)

4. English Language Proficiency

Most institutions in Canada require proof of English proficiency:

  • IELTS – Minimum score 6.0 overall (no band less than 5.5)

  • TOEFL – Usually 80–100 (iBT)

  • Duolingo – Accepted by some colleges/universities

  • MOI (Medium of Instruction) – May be accepted in select institutions (especially private colleges)

5. Letter of Acceptance (LOA)

  • This is issued by the Designated Learning Institution (DLI)

6. Statement of Purpose (SOP)

  • Must be clear, honest, and personalized

7. Letters of Recommendation (for PG/PhD applicants)

  • 2 letters from academic or professional referees

  • Should talk about your strengths, character, and readiness for higher study

8. Updated CV / Resume

  • Includes academic history, work experience, certifications, extracurriculars

  • Submit in .docx or PDF format

9. Proof of Funds (Financial Documents)

To get a study permit, you must show you can cover your tuition and living costs:

  • Bank Statement showing a balance of CAD $20,000–$30,000

  • Sponsor Letter (if your studies are being funded by parents or relatives)

  • Income Source Documents (job/business proof, salary slips, tax returns)

  • Affidavit of Support (if needed)

10. Medical Exam (IME)

  • Immigration Medical Exam may be required for students from Bangladesh

  • Must be done by a panel physician approved by IRCC

11. Police Clearance Certificate

  • From Bangladesh Police Headquarters

  • Must prove you have no criminal record

12. Visa Documents (Study Permit Application)
